Q.1 Is “Indus Valley” PERMANENT HERBAL GELCOLOUR gentle to my hair?

Answer: Absolutely. Unlike most hair colourants, “INDUS VALLEY” PERMANENT HERBAL GELCOLOUR has 90% natural/herbal ingredients and contains no traces of harmful ammonia, hydrogen peroxide, Metallic salts or drying alcohol. Yet it delivers glorious, permanent colour that will cover even stubborn gray.

Q.2 I want to use “Indus Valley” PERMANENT HERBAL GELCOLOUR to get rid of my gray hair. Can I use heat blower? What do you recommend?

Answer: Because “INDUS VALLEY” PERMANENT HERBAL GELCOLOUR does not contain heavy/harsh chemicals some hair may benefit from the addition of heat. Heat will help the colour to take on the gray hair. After application, place disposable plastic cap (not included) over hair and add warm heat from a blow-dryer or heat cap.

Q.3 I'm not sure which shade of “Indus Valley” PERMANENT HERBAL GELCOLOUR to choose?

Answer: If you are not sure which shade matches your natural colour, choose a slightly lighter shade initially. Performing the strand test will help you determine the shade that's best for you. Q.4 Can I use “Indus Valley” PERMANENT HERBAL GELCOLOUR after other chemical hair treatments?

Answer: Absolutely. In fact, “Indus Valley” PERMANENT HERBAL GELCOLOUR's excellent conditioning properties make dull, dry hair more manageable, while looking healthier and more natural. It is safe to use on hair that has been treated with henna or swimmer's hair as well as hair that has been permed or chemically relaxed. Please be sure to use a lighter shade the first time and do a strand test. Permed and relaxed hair can take colour darker and in much less time.

Q.5 My hair are very short. Can I save left over mixture for the next time I colour?

Answer: No, because the unused mixture will quickly lose effectiveness. Be sure the mixture completely covers your hair, then throw the rest away.

Q.6 I have long hair. Will I need more than one package of “Indus Valley” PERMANENT HERBAL GEL COLOUR?

Answer: One pack is sufficient, if you have hair upto shoulder. You may buy 2 packs if your hair are really long. For best results, mix both the powder sachets with both the gel tubes at the same time. Never mix one by one.

Q.7 Can I apply two different shades in one day?

Answer: Yes, you can. You can apply one shade right over another.

Q.8 How does “Indus Valley” PERMANENT HERBAL GELCOLOUR work without peroxide?

Answer: Through polymerisation, colour molecules are locked inside the hair - so the colour cannot wash away.

Q.9 How does polymerisation work? Is it a plastic coating?

Answer: Polymerisation is a process in which relatively small molecules, called monomers, combine chemically to produce a very large chainlike or network molecule, called a polymer. Hair is made up of mostly protein and proteins are one of many types of natural polymers. Polymerisation causes the hair dye molecules to bond with the natural colour molecules inside the hair. It is not a plastic nor does it coat the hair.

Q.10 Can I lighten my hair colour with “Indus Valley” PERMANENT HERBAL GELCOLOUR?

Answer: Since “Indus Valley” PERMANENT HERBAL GELCOLOUR doesn't contain ammonia or hydrogen peroxide, it won't lighten your hair colour. If you choose any of our black, brown, blonde or red shades, your hair will look great no matter what your hair colour is. However, if you want to go lighter, we recommend that you bleach your hair first. Our products are gentle & they are 90% natural.

Q.11 How do I know that the product is 90% natural?

Q.12 Why is it important to time the mixture application?

Answer: If you don't, you may end up with a colour that is not what you expected.

Q.13 Should I wash my hair before I colour?

Answer: “Indus Valley” PERMANENT HERBAL GELCOLOUR should be applied to clean hair with no styling products on it. It is best to shampoo the day before.

Q.14 I am allergic to some hair colouring products. Will I be allergic to “Indus Valley” PERMANENT HERBAL GELCOLOUR?

Answer: While our products are gentle & they are 90% natural, so this has much less chances of allergy. However, few people are allergic to vegetables & fruits. They do contain chemicals that can cause allergic reactions in a small number of people. We recommend an allergy test before every application.

Q.15 What are the most common mistakes people make when using “Indus Valley” PERMANENT HERBAL GELCOLOUR?

Q.1 Is a patch test really necessary?

Answer: “INDUS VALLEY” 100% BOTANICALHAIR COLOUR is a 100% natural product & hence very safe to use. However, some people are allergic to pollen or vegetables or milk or spices etc. Hence we recommend to carryout the patch test. If you experience any abnormal reaction, i.e. redness, a mild burning sensation, to this product, you are allergic to this product and must not use it.

Q.2 Can “Indus Valley” 100% Botanical Hair Colour be used if the customer has suffered severe allergic reactions to other hair colour in the past?

Answer: Allergic reactions vary and a skin sensitivity test must be carried out at least 48 hours before application. “Indus Valley” 100% Botanical Hair Colour is hypoallergenic and has been dermatologically tested. Once the skin test has been successfully completed, the product may be applied.

Q.3 Can I use “Indus Valley” 100% Botanical Hair Colour on my beard?

Answer: “Indus Valley” 100% Botanical Hair Colour is not recommended for use on facial hair, however, we do know many customers who use it very successfully for this purpose.

Q.4 Does “Indus Valley” 100% Botanical Hair Colour contain Phenylenediamines (PPD’s)?

Answer: No, “Indus Valley” 100% Botanical Hair Colour does not contain PPD or an type of chemical. This is free from any chemical & contains only natural herbs.

Q.5 I have had allergic reactions to ammonia tints in the past; will I react to “Indus Valley” 100% Botanical Hair Colour?

Answer: “Indus Valley” 100% Botanical Hair Colour does not contain ammonia & people who are allergenic with ammonia can use tit safely. However, we advise performing a skin test prior to tinting your hair.

Q.6 I am pregnant and I have been told that hair colours can be potentially dangerous for my unborn child.

Strand test

Q.8 Why should I do the Strand Test prior to applying?

Answer:   Everybody has different hair types/structures & hence “Indus Valley” 100% Botanical Hair Colour may result to different shades of colour on your hair. This test also determines the length of time “Indus Valley” 100% Botanical Hair Colour remains on your hair to achieve desired colour depth. If after the Strand Test you don't like the colour, you can try some of the Special Effects as given in below question and redo the Strand Test with the changes.

Q.9 How do I obtain the sample hair for the stand test?

Answer: You can take from your head or use the "leavings" from your brush or comb. The strand sample should include all different colours and textures of your hair.

Q.10 I did the strand test & the result is too red, what should I do to adjust the colour?

Answer: If you added heat, it will bring out red tones. Try the strand again without applying heat. You can add black tea to the powder in replacement of the water to tone down the red (redo the strand test)

Q.11 I did the strand test & my colour came out brassy, what can I do to adjust the colour?

Answer: - If you want to darken the Gold tones, reapply the same application. - You can add 2 to 3 tablespoons of Vinegar or fresh lemon juice to brown or mahogany shades. This will bring out rich brownish or copper highlights. Redo the strand test if necessary

Q.12 What colour should I use?

Answer: Please refer to the colour chart on the back of the box. It is important to note that this product will not lighten your hair as this does not contain any chemical.

Q.13 Do I need to do a strand test?

Answer: Yes, the strand test determines the length of time you leave the paste on and the colour results.
